SUMMARY:Sleep with me: On Rest and Insomnia in Hebrew Literature
\n__________________________________ \nSleep with me: On Rest and Insomnia in Hebrew Literature\nIn recent years\, we have been constantly asked to remain alert and responsive. Sleep\, in this context\, is often treated as a disruption: something to minimize in the name of productivity so that we can “get more done.” This talk turns to Hebrew literature to propose a different way of thinking about sleep: as a mode of thought and relation\, a vital way of engaging with the world. \nDrawing on psychoanalytic theory\, especially the work of Wilfred Bion\, we will read scenes of sleep in works by the Hebrew writers Amalia Kahana-Carmon\, Dalia Ravikovitch\, and Ronit Matalon\, in which rest appears as a process of coping\, creativity\, and even communication. In a reality that demands constant vigilance\, these literary texts invite us to reconsider sleep as an unexpected site of healing and repair. \nRegister here\nThis free workshop is presented in Hebrew.
