JCC Summer Camp

Program Overview

JCC Summer Camp offers an intimate day camp experience where campers can discover new interests, test personal limits, and most importantly, have fun. In this exciting and safe environment, campers will celebrate Jewish traditions, make new friends, and develop meaningful relationships with their counselors. We aim to give campers a sense of Judaism in a whole new way as they experience and pursue the value of making the world a better place through service projects, song, art, dance, and drama.

The JCC East Bay is happy to offer financial aid to families in need. Please complete this form.

The JCC East Bay recognizes that all families have different needs, and we want to support all families the best we can. We are pleased to be able to offer limited financial assistance for summer camp. Please note that we may not have the ability to review or award financial aid for applications received after May 1. Results will be communicated 2-4 weeks after application submission. Please submit your fully completed application to Adam Berke, CFO adam.berke@jcceastbay.org.

Where is JCC Summer Camp located?

Our homebase will be at the JCC East Bay in Berkeley (1414 Walnut Street). Each age group will have access to their own classrooms, the JCC theater, our outdoor playground, as well as exploring local parks for games, lunch, and more.

How will pick-up and drop-off work?

All camp drop off will be at the main entrance. Parents will enter the building and turn to the left where a table will be set up in the courtyard to sign your child in and out.

Please note, late fees will be incurred for any camper not picked up at the allotted time.

What should my child bring to camp? And what about lunch and snacks?

Campers should bring a backpack with a non-perishable, nut-free, Kosher-style lunch (please no pork or shellfish, or mixing of milk and meat), full water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat. A change of clothes and a light sweatshirt is always a good idea. Please label everything.

Snacks will be provided during camp and PM extended care, but your camper is welcome to bring additional snacks, if desired.

What type of training will staff receive?

Prior to camp, all staff will attend a week of in-person training of all policies and procedures, including age appropriate programming, health and safety related procedures, training in effective communication, building community, inclusive programming, and much more.

How many campers will be in each group?

Groups will be up to 16 campers, with 2-3 counselors at any given time.

Can we pick a friend for our camper to be with in a group?

Having friends at camp depends entirely on the registration and notice given - we will do our best to accommodate. Please email summercamps@jcceastbay.org with your request as soon as possible.

What about refunds?

Refunds will not be available after June 2, 2022. Until then all fees, less $100/week deposit, are fully refundable.
