The JCC East Bay is excited to share a big, audacious plan for a new Jewish Community Campus in the East Bay. The new community hub will provide a vibrant home for our East Bay Jewish community.
In December 2019, the Libitzky Property Companies (LPC) purchased the Nestlé/Dreyer’s campus in Oakland with the intention of creating a new town square for Jewish life in the East Bay, in partnership with the JCC East Bay (JCCEB).
Our vision is to create a Jewish community campus—a place of inclusivity and belonging—a place where all of our local organizations can come together in a central location to maximize our resources, to amplify our collective impact, and to better serve our rich and diverse community.
The site is in the heart of an urban mecca and totals 83,499 square feet, is comprised of multiple buildings, and is situated on 2.98 acres of land with private parking. The campus is within two blocks of the Rockridge BART station, has AC Transit Bus Service, and is within 20 minutes of San Francisco and Walnut Creek.
Programming at the Berkeley site is vibrant. We are committed to continuing to serve our families and community members in Berkeley, as we have for the past many years.
LPC will continue to own and manage the campus during an intensive research, planning, and feasibility process. The JCCEB currently occupies one of the office buildings, and Moishe House occupies one of the residential homes on the campus.
